Lord Eddie George 1938-2009

I was privileged to meet Lord and Lady George when they came to Cornwall and very soon after that Lord George agreed to become a Trustee of the Cornwall Community Foundation.    He had a real interest in and concern for the communities in Cornwall and gave us immeasurable help in building up both the reputation and funds of the Foundation.

Lord George always had time to listen to anyone, would always be prepared to speak to groups of professionals, business groups or anyone who could help or needed help from the Foundation and of course his financial expertise was invaluable.   I have never heard anyone ever say a critical word about Eddie – he was loved and respected by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.    He will be greatly missed and we would like to offer all our sympathy to his family at this very sad time.
