MONTOL FESTIVAL GROUP

The Montol Festival Group was part funded by the Cornwall Community Foundation’s Grassroots Grants programme.

The project was based in the Penzance area and created by a team of enthusiastic people keen to celebrate old Cornish winter traditions and to use this celebration as a way of bringing the local community together. They worked with local villages, churches, schools, bands, dance groups and formed their very own Montol Singers group to revive Cornish Carol singing.

Money granted by the CCF paid for two people to job share programming events, to build a beacon that can also be used for future events, and training stewards and fire crews to keep the participants safe.
