Committees

cornwall community foundationManagement Committee

This is a committee consisting of five Trustees and the Executive Director. It deals with all aspects of staffing, finance, and general administration. It enables these matters to be considered by a smaller group for onward report and approval to the main Board at its quarterly meetings. It is also there to provide support to the Executive Director on matters that arise during the day to day running of the Foundation.

cornwall community foundationInvestment Committee

The responsibility of this Committee is to set investment policy for the funds in the Foundation’s endowment. It sets out a broad asset allocation, and also reviews the manager that is used to implement investment policy. It reports to the main Board for approval of the Foundation’s investment policy. Members of the Committee have experience at a very senior level in the asset management industry, and remain actively involved in this field.

cornwall community foundationEvents Committee

The principal purpose of the Events Committee is to organise the Annual Awards Celebration. All our stakeholders C100, Friends, Trustees and volunteers are invited, together with local dignatories and of course some people representing the recipients of our awards. The Event showcases some of the grants we have made during the year in a celebratory fashion and then formally makes the Awards to round off the evening. We hope that newcomers will want to join us as a result. The Event is funded by the generosity of some of our C100 sponsors. We are always looking for corporate sponsors and if you would be interested in providing sponsorship please contact events@cornwallcommunityfoundation.com.

This year’s Awards Celebration is being held at The Tremough Campus on November 17 at 18:00 in the media centre. Admission is by invitation only. The students will be preparing media projects as part of their course work which should make this a very lively evening. Historically we have held the awards in the cathedral at Truro, we are contemplating rotating between various venues in the county and would welcome your views on whether this would be attractive events@cornwallcommunityfoundation.com.

In addition the Events Committee evaluates every event with which we are involved against predetermined criteria. Where events are to raise money for the Foundation we often provide volunteers to help out and manage a stall to publicise what we do. We are always looking for volunteers to help out. If you are interested in volunteering please let us know. In 2010 we were the nominated charity for the Tregothnan open week-end and the Foot Anstey cocktail party at the Royal Cornwall Show, in addition White Stuff gave us airtime in some of their stores. In 2012 we are evaluating a dedicated performance at the Minack theatre, RCS, shooting at Caerhays.

Tessa Phipps also organises a "Seeing Is Believing" programme by regions across the county, for stakeholders to see how their money was spent by visiting certain projects. If you would like to assist in organising one of these visits or indeed attend one please contact sib@cornwallcommunityfoundation.com.

Sue West also organises some Creme events for ladies who lunch. If you would like to receive an invitation please contact creme@cornwallcommunityfoundation.com.

cornwall community foundationFriends Committee

Friends is a way in which donors can give smaller amounts but still have big impact. We recommend a donation from as little as £2 a month or £24 a year. You will be invited to an annual award ceremony to celebrate the groups you have helped fund and importantly get involved in deciding how your money is spent”.
