Crealy’s Grandparents’ Weekend Supports the WMN 150th Anniversary Challenge
Crealy Great Adventure Parks are helping the Western Morning News to raise money for its 150th Anniversary Grassroots Challenge, to support older people in need. Children visiting Crealy over Grandparents’ Weekend on 19th and 20th September have the chance to enter a drawing competition to win annual membership to Crealy.
Grandparents visiting Devon’s Crealy and Cornwall’s Crealy can enjoy a free home-baked cake and coffee. Grandchildren can enter the special drawing competition, entitled ‘My Day at Crealy’. The competition will be open to the under 8s and under 12s with a chance to win Crealy annual memberships.
The competition costs just £1 to enter, which will matched by Devon and Cornwall Community Foundation to make a £2 donation for the WMN 150th Anniversary Challenge Fund.
Angela Wright, MBE, founder of Crealy Great Adventure Parks comments, “We’re delighted to support the WMN 150th Anniversary Grassroots Challenge in this way. Grandparents’ Weekend is the ideal time for the whole family to get together whilst raising money for such an important cause.”
As part of its 150th Anniversary Grassroots Challenge, The Western Morning News is working with local charities, Devon Community Foundation and Cornwall Community Foundation to help raise cash for small voluntary and community groups providing local support to older people in need. The Foundations can match every donation as part of their Grassroots Challenge.
Martha Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Devon Community Foundation explains, “Local groups like lunch clubs, exercise classes, support for carers and local transport are often a lifeline to vulnerable, isolated and lonely older people – particularly in rural areas. The WMN 150th Anniversary Challenge will help us to support these essential voluntary and community groups, which are helping to improve the quality of life for older people in the Westcountry.”
