Storm Relief Fundraising Concert
3 March 2014
CCF would like to invite you to an evening of singing at the Seahorse Centre, Pentewan on Sunday 16th March, starting at 7.30pm to raise funds for those affected by the recent storms in Cornwall.
Following the weeks of torrential rain and strong winds there are many areas of Cornwall where whole communities are in urgent need of help, both in the immediate and in the long term. People have suffered from flood damage to their properties and in many cases have been displaced from their homes and also whole livelihoods have been affected.
All money raised by the Cornwall Community Foundation will be spent in Cornwall, delivering grants directly to individuals and community groups in an emergency crisis situation. The Seahorse Centre has kindly donated the use of this superb venue free of charge for this event.
The full line-up includes Carclaze Community Choir, Cornish Connection, Press Gang and NoteAbility. Press Gang is a very popular group of men from Cornwall, who sing songs about Cornwall, the sea, shanties, and some comedy numbers. Last year they performed 30 gigs, and in the process raised lots of money for local charities. Their first CD is due to be released later this year. NoteAbility was formed just over 2 years ago, and now has a membership of 60 men and women, under the brilliant leadership of Matt Douglas. Their first concert led to a standing ovation, and now their repertoire has grown to include songs from all eras. This is certain to be a really enjoyable evening. The event will be attended by the Mayor of St Austell, Councillor Steve Double.
Tickets, priced at £5 to include a pasty, are available from the Tourist Information Centre in St Austell. Tickets from CRBO, Phone (01726) 879500 or *crbo.co.uk http://crbo.co.uk or call in to Tourist Information in Truro, St Austell, Bodmin and 'Bookends' in Fowey.Back
