The Hayle & District Bowling Club receives support from the Cornwall 100 Club
6 May 2014
The Hayle & District Bowling Club received £800 funding from the Cornwall Community Foundation’s business arm towards a new sectional building for changing facilities to replace an old portacabin. Cornwall 100 Club member Bridget O’Byrne from Truro based Knight O’Byrne Independent Financial Planners visited the Bowling Club and presented the cheque on 28 April 2014.
The bowling club has been in operation since 2006 when the bowling green was constructed, the first season within the Cornwall Bowling Leagues was 2007. From the year 2007 a second hand portacabin has been the changing room with no seperate ladies facilities. The current portacabin is in very poor health, hence the new building. At the end of this May the club will have completed a new sectional building for changing facilities to replace an old portacabin. From June onwards the club will start the project of refurbishing the inside of the building including new partitions, two new toilets and a small kitchen. The funding from the Cornwall 100 Club will fund the kitchen units, toilet and fittings, timber for partitions, drainage work and floor.
Adrian Felix, Club Secretary said “We would like to say a big thank you to the Cornwall 100 Club for the £800 which has been donated, allowing us to install new facilities and kitchenette in our new changing rooms. Most of our members will play 2-3 hours out in all weathers, so after the games a hot cuppa tea/coffee will be very welcome in our new surrounds, thanks to the fund.”Back
