St John Village Hall receives support from the C100 Club
23 June 2014
The St John Village Hall received £1,000 funding from the Cornwall Community Foundation’s business arm towards landscaping the village hall gardens. Helen J Marks, Plymouth and Cornwall Area Director of HSBC, who are members of the Cornwall 100 Club visited the project to present the cheque.
Helen J Marks said “I am delighted to see how far £1,000 can go to pulling a community project together and how much the community involvement has been.”
This is the only village amenity in St John and the residents are keen to create more facilities in the village for the young, elderly and disabled. Disabled access is an important part of the landscaping that this grant has ensured. Their aim is to provide an ongoing programme of events such as coffee mornings, wine and supper evenings, skittles, short mat bowls, snooker, village fun days, concerts and social gatherings of all kinds. These events are well supported by their local residents and those in the surrounding area of the Rame Peninsula.
The whole community joined to volunteer and they have almost completed the all-weather, multi-purpose, boule court area. The grant from the Cornwall 100 Club enabled them to landscape the surroundings and generally enhance the village hall gardens.Back
