Receiving a helping hand from the Lord Lieutenant’s Fund for Youth – Young and Talented - was the boost Calum Jarvis from north Cornwall needed to fulfil his ambitions.  A recent medal winner at the Commonwealth Games, Calum from Wadebridge admits he could not have achieved this goal without the help of the fund, “I wanted to send a huge thank you for all the support The Lord Lieutenant’s Fund for Youth has given me through the years.” He was given £1,040 by LLFFY in February 2007, £292 in April 2009 and £900 in November 2013.

As well as claiming the bronze medal in the 200m freestyle, Calum also broke a record. It’s taken years of hard work and determination but Calum admits it would not have happened without the financial help from the Fund which supports talented youngsters in Cornwall, “the atmosphere throughout the Commonwealth Games was amazing, the Scots were brilliant hosts and did a phenomenal job of supporting the home nations. It was an absolute privilege and honour to compete at the Commonwealth Games.”
