Launceston Foodbank receives support from the CCF

Tim Smith, Trustee of the Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF) delivered 25 internet dongles to Launceston Foodbank. The CCF regularly supports the foodbanks of the county with grant awards, the unusual gifts were donated to the CCF by Vodafone. The internet dongles have 2GB data allowance for 30 days of use and could be useful for somebody looking for jobs.
Launceston Foodbank fed 953 adults and 756 children between 1st April 2013 and 31st March 2014. Over 14 tonnes of food was donated to the Foodbank by the local community. Since 1st April 2014 Launceston Foodbank fed 435 adults and 281 children. The three main types of crisis they see on a weekly basis are benefit delays, debt and low income.
Karen Milne Foodbank Manager said “Launceston foodbank is committed to help those in crisis in the town and the surrounding areas. We are very grateful to receive the gift of Internet dongles from Cornwall Community Foundation. They will be very handy for clients who struggle to gain internet access to be able to search for job opportunities or for their children to be able to use the internet for homework.”
