Wellbeing & Prevention Programme invests more than £12,000 in care and support projects
6 December 2016
The Wellbeing & Prevention Programme awarded a total £12,564 to 11 local community groups. The supported projects enhance the quality of life for people with care and support needs through developing a range of activities and events. The vast range of projects concentrated on social inclusion, integration and independence.
The Wellbeing & Prevention Programme enables the supported beneficiaries to regain confidence, control and independence, ultimately reducing isolation and increasing health and wellbeing.
The projects awarded in November included Access Theatre, Chaos Cornwall CIC, Enable in Cornwall Ltd, Launceston Memory Café, Launceston Town Band, Liskeard Memory Café, Looe Breathers, Newquay Gateway Club, Penta Health and Wellbeing, Perranwell Memory Café and The Oasis Centre.
The majority of the beneficiaries go on to participate in a regular community group activity whether it be exercise classes, luncheon clubs, gardening clubs or a Friday night at bingo with friends. Community groups reported that the social investment made by the CCF enabled some of the beneficiaries to reduce medication, hospital admission, their care at home support and the need for residential care.
