Funding opportunity for local community groups in the Caradon area

17 October 2017

Local community groups in the Caradon area can apply to Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF) for funding from the Caradon Area Community Fund(CACF).  The deadline for the current round of applications is 25th October.

The fund can support a wide range of projects including those that improve safety, transport and community cohesion, skills and learning, job opportunities and healthy living. CCF Grants Manager, Kirsty Philpott, says, “CACF is a flexible fund that offers funding between £250 and £3,000. Darite Village Hall is a great example of a local project supported by CACF where the investment has made a big difference to the rural community the facility serves.”

Darite Village Hall were awarded £3,000 from CACF towards an extensive modernisation of the hall, including new kitchen facilities. Darite is a small and vibrant community, historically a mining village, now with a diverse population.  The hall, originally built in 1910, now hosts a wide range of community events including coffee mornings, toddler groups, music events and a history club.

Kirsty Philpott adds, “We know from our feedback that the refurbishment project re-invigorated the community, creating a momentum among other communities keen to replicate Darite’s success in their own communities.”
